History of Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a South Korean Martial Art that was Founded on the 15th of April, 1955 by Major General Choi Hong Hi - 9th Degree Black Belt.
Taekwondo was Inaugurated into the UK in the year 1967
The Taekwondo Association of Great Britain (TAGB) was formed in 1983
The British Taekwondo Council was formed in 1988
Taekwondo international was inaugurated into England in 1993

Belt Colour meaning -

White Belt -  Signifies Innocence 

Yellow Belt Signifies - Earth, as the Taekwondo foundation is being laid.  

Chon - Ji  literally means Heave and Earth, It is in the orient that this is the initial pattern, played by the beginner. The pattern consists of two similar halves, one to represent the Heavens and one to represent the Earth.

Focus Kicking -  Side Kick and Turning Kick (Left and Right Leg)

Kicks to be done within the count of 3.

  • First count: Chamber the Kick, While performing a guarding block.
  • Second count: Extend the kick, hold and focus at the target area.
  • Third count: Re-chamber the Kick and return the the initial ready position.
